These programs are designed to shift more financial burden indirectly to the manufacturer by extracting more out-of-pocket from the patient. One of the responses to these trends has been the introduction of copay Accumulator Adjuster Programs (AAPs) and copay maximizers by the large Pharmaceutical Benefit Managers (PBMs). The prevalence of this approach is so great that today 95% of branded products offer copay assistance, and approximately 75% of patient cost sharing in the commercial channel, where copay programs are allowed, is now offset by manufacturers. One common mechanism for pharmaceutical manufacturers to help with rising patient costs has been to offer copay offset programs to reduce patient burden. As more patients become exposed to co-insurance and deductibles, and specialty product utilization grows, cost sharing requirements have increased. The more patients are asked to pay, the less likely they are to do so. IQVIA expert, Luke Greenwalt dives in to share how these programs will affect our pharma stakeholders. In this blog series, we will explore the top seven trends we see emerging in 20, and how our customers should respond.Ī major trend we see emerging in 20 are Copay Accumulator Adjuster Programs. It will be important to explore what trends in pharma are developing and how they may impact those working in the industry. As we launch into 2022, it’s time for our stakeholders to look ahead and begin making and adjusting their yearly goals.

I've never been to Louisiana, but probing Kay's mindmap conjures uncomfortable echoes of my own relationship with my family and hometown. But perhaps because of Norco's roots in a real hyperlocal setting, drawing on the devs' lived experiences, as well as issues like class divide, gentrification, and alienation, it forces us to re-examine our relationship with videogames as a medium for escapist pleasure. This isn't to say that most point-and-click adventures are mindless-I'm a huge fan of what Wadjet Eye has done to elevate storytelling and characterization in Primordia and Unavowed. It forces us to re-examine our relationship with videogames as a medium for escapist pleasure. It's worth noting that Norco's physical environment is already altered beyond repair, and the only thing left to do is find solidarity with the people who can survive and subvert the indignities of technocapitalist 'progress.' On another level, the mind map is an insightful alternative to point-and-clicks that rely on manipulating the game environment and collecting items – it forces the player to internalize and contextualize Kay and Catherine's decisions on a deeper level. It mirrors both the player and Kay's need for clarity, with the added function of being a place where the player can keep track of the game's major threads. The mindmap system-a connect-the-dots-style web used to nudge the story along-is a simple but effective way of dressing up the (nominal) role of player agency in Kay's journey. Several labs have been working on refining more efficient recycling methods so that, eventually, a standardised, eco-friendly way to recycle Li batteries will be ready to meet skyrocketing demand. If the millions upon millions of Li batteries that will give out after around 10 years or so of use are recycled more efficiently, however, it will help neutralise all that energy expenditure. Also, since large scale, cheap ways to recycle Li batteries are lagging behind, only about 5% of Li batteries are recycled globally, meaning the majority are simply going to waste.īut as demand for EVs escalates, as it's projected to, the impetus to recycle more of them is set to barrel through the battery and motor vehicle industry. As a result, it costs more to recycle them than to mine more lithium to make new ones. "The current method of simply shredding everything and trying to purify a complex mixture results in expensive processes with low value products," says Andrew Abbott, a physical chemist at the University of Leicester. And even when Li batteries are broken down this way, the products aren't easy to reuse. But Li batteries are made up of lots of different parts that could explode if they're not disassembled carefully. In your average battery recycling plant, battery parts are shredded down into a powder, and then that powder is either melted (pyrometallurgy) or dissolved in acid (hydrometallurgy). Why environmental lawsuits are on the rise. The latter are typically larger, heavier, much more complex and even dangerous if taken apart wrong. One reason is that the most widely used methods of recycling more traditional batteries, like lead-acid batteries, don't work well with Li batteries. Currently, lithium (Li) ion batteries are those typically used in EVs and the megabatteries used to store energy from renewables, and Li batteries are hard to recycle. While this may sound like the ideal path to sustainable power and road travel, there's one big problem. And grid-scale systems the world over are growing rapidly thanks to advancing battery storage technology. In fact, according to BloombergNEF, two-thirds of the world's passenger vehicle sales will be electric by 2040. Audi's goal is to stop producing them by 2033, and many other major auto companies are following suit. General Motors announced earlier this year that it plans to stop selling gas-powered vehicles by 2035. This electrified future is much closer than you might think. Meanwhile, gas-powered generator sites that dot the horizon may be retrofitted to house massive batteries that could one day power entire cities with renewable energy. The overpowering smell of gas stations will fade away into odourless charge stations where cars can re-juice their batteries as needed. As the quiet whirr of electric vehicles gradually replaces the revs and noxious fumes of internal combustion engines, a number of changes are set to filter through our familiar world. On the scoreboard high above the First Union Center floor, a video played. Take a beat and ponder this: In an NBA career covering 16 seasons and 1,072 games, how many times would you, could you guess Charles Barkley jumped? To a finer point, how many times did Barkley execute exactly this kind of defense? Wouldn’t it have been easier to just concede to the taller foe? In it, a boyish Barkley laughs and cuts up, dunks, jaws and rebounds - always rebounds - during his glory days with the 76ers.īut 10 minutes, 51 seconds into the game itself, Tyrone Hill, working to 3 feet from the basket, goes up for a shot and Barkley leaps to defend. He collapsed to the floor, grabbed the knee that was bulging curiously because that’s what knees do when a quadriceps tendon ruptures. After the play, Barkley summoned help from the Rockets' bench, but not before calmly putting his mouthguard in his sock. The irrelevant details: Hill missed the 3-footer but scored on a follow tip-in. "God doesn't make mistakes," Mickens, Barkley's grandmother, said afterward. Just the blown-up knee part was different. "The way my kneecap was bulging through my leg, I said, 'Well, it's been fun.’ I knew immediately it was over.” "I knew it was over when I saw it - I knew it was over when it first happened," Barkley told reporters. The Sporting News recognized as much and covered Barkley's injury with a mix of appreciation and empathy, sarcasm and humor - kind of like Chuck. Combine that with the power, size, and form factor of Raspberry Pi 3A+, and you have yourself a magic recipe. We’ll be building one into a frameless modern design using standard-sized parts and materials in order to minimise the DIY tools and skills required. Happily, display technology has advanced, and now is an excellent time to revisit this project using new low-voltage, ultra-slim displays. As a result, a smart mirror was not usually a realistic project unless you were completely comfortable dealing with high-voltage electricity, not to mention having the DIY skills required to make a custom frame. The makers of early smart mirrors often had to remove a bulky computer monitor from its housing, which entailed dealing with power and wiring issues. Their popularity and appeal haven’t declined with time, and the idea of performing your morning ablutions in front of a mirror that displays your day’s schedule, monitors your home’s systems, and offers up a cheeky joke still sounds a bit like a scene out of a sci-fi movie. My USB Microphone set me back £8.99 and my speakers £8.63 so not exactly THX 7.1 but it does the job! You're now ready to make a start on the hardware of your screen.Smart mirrors, or magic mirrors as they’re often called, have been around for several years and are nearly always near the top of any maker’s would-love-to-do list. To try AVS out you're going to need microphone and speakers. Do be warned, our hardware does not house the high-quality and numerous microphones/speakers that amazon lends to it Alexa Smart Devices and some of the AVS is not enabled to non-amazon makeshift devices like the one's we're building, however, its worth the install. The wonderful people at Amazon Web Services have allowed your everyday Joe's like me to take advantage of their awesome Alexa-Voice-Service (AVS). The best tutorial on connecting the controller to your LCD is from DIY Perks and YouTube tutorial below.īefore you get all excited buying two-way-mirrors etc.I advise that you first get hands-on with the software and you're going to need the SD Card that came with your Raspberry Pi 4 Starter Kit so that you can download Raspberry Pi Operating System and Magic Mirror software.
